Your Instructor
My work as a music therapist focuses specifically on using music and songwriting in long-term care to support residents in creative self-expression and community building practices. For example, I often led large choirs within long-term care to promote friendship between residents and used songwriting as a way for residents to share their stories and leave a legacy for their families.
Now as a PhD student, I am focused on using collaborative songwriting to challenge stigma associated with dementia by supporting people living with dementia in sharing their experiences of stigmatization.Through my work, I have seen the many benefits songwriting can have in our personal and professional lives.
