The goal of this course is for you to make some distinctions between the various ways music is delivered in care so that you can recognize what you are already doing and find new ways to deliver music in your caring community.

Focus of course: This course introduces the Music Wellness Model and explores how music can be used as a powerful strategy for self-care. Participants learn how music affects the brain and body, how it supports emotional regulation, and how intentional music practices can help buffer stress. Scientific insights are paired with practical tools that can be integrated into daily life and care routines.
Importance: Providing care can be emotionally demanding. Self-care is essential yet is often overlooked while meeting the needs of others.
Key topic areas:
- Define “Music Wellness” through the process of research using the Delphi methodology
- Differentiate compassion fatigue, empathic strain and moral injury and how they each impact the professional
- Recognize how music influences the brain and body
- Identify music-based strategies that promote personal wellness and resilience.

This course is designed for caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals, and individuals caring for a loved one. It may also serve as supplemental content for HR departments in care setting.

She is deeply committed to mindfulness, holistic education, and music education, with a particular passion for the intersection of music and wellness. As Music Care Certify Lead with Room 217, Gillian brings her expertise into the health and care sector, training caregivers across diverse settings to use music with intention.
